Plan & Book Your Trip to Kanazawa

Kanazawa was a wonderful surprise on our Japan trip, offering a relaxed change of pace from Tokyo. Its historic samurai streets, teahouse districts, and the beautiful Kenrokuen garden make it a fantastic destination. I recommend three full sightseeing days, which usually means booking four nights if your arrival and departure take up travel time. Use the ideas below to plan your own visit. Book Transportation

Our station-side hotel and the local buses made Kanazawa incredibly easy to explore. Once you reach the historic neighborhoods, they are best experienced on foot.

Hokuriku Shinkansen
Direct trains connect Tokyo to Kanazawa in under three hours, making the city a natural stop before heading further south.

Kanazawa Loop Bus
A highly practical way to connect the main districts; just choose the right or left loop depending on your next stop.

Komatsu Airport
The closest airport to the city, featuring a direct bus that reaches Kanazawa Station in roughly 40 to 45 minutes.

Walking
Comfortable shoes are essential here, as the historic streets, garden slopes, and riverside paths are incredibly rewarding to explore on foot.

Book Accommodations

We chose a base right beside the station's East Exit, which worked perfectly, but here are the areas I would consider when booking hotels, ryokan, or vacation rentals:

Kanazawa Station Hotels
The simplest option for rail arrivals, handling luggage, and early departures, which is exactly why we chose the ANA Crown Plaza here.

Omicho Market & Musashigatsuji Stays
A great central compromise between the station and the main sights, putting excellent food shops and restaurants close by.

Korinbo & Katamachi Hotels
A lively area useful for shopping, evening restaurants, and easy walks directly into the Nagamachi samurai district.
