Plan & Book Your Trip to Incheon
For an overnight connection between flights, Incheon offers an excellent full sightseeing day before heading back to the airport. Rather than making the long journey into Seoul, I highly recommend staying on the mainland in Songdo, where you can enjoy the striking modern skyline and take a relaxed morning walk through Central Park. Plan & Book
Transportation
Book Transportation
I recommend exploring Songdo itself on foot, and using taxis or ride-hailing apps for the journey to and from the airport.
Incheon International Airport
A massive, modern hub on its own island; allow time for the sheer scale of the terminals.
Taxis and Ride Apps
The most direct way to cross from the airport to Songdo; Uber and Kakao T both work well here.
Walking
The absolute best way to explore Songdo Central Park and take in the surrounding architecture.
Airport Coaches
Public coach services like the 6777 offer a dedicated route connecting the airport terminals to the Central Park area.
Incheon Line 1
A useful local rail connection, though the route from the airport is less direct than taking the road.

Book Accommodations
For a short layover, I highly recommend basing yourself in Songdo rather than rushing into Seoul, choosing an area suited to your schedule when booking hotels or vacation rentals:
Songdo Central Park Hotels
I stayed at the Sheraton Grand here, which gave us immediate access to peaceful park walks and striking modern architecture.
Incheon Airport Hotels
A highly practical choice if you have a very tight connection and prefer to stay on the airport island.
Open Port District Stays
Consider this historic neighborhood for a longer stay to explore Incheon's maritime roots and older architecture.
Incheon Chinatown Stays
A distinct area with rich history and culture, though it requires more time than a quick overnight stop allows.
Bupyeong Rentals & Stays
A lively district known for vast underground shopping streets, offering serviced apartments and a very different side of the city.

Book Activities
My favorite part of Incheon was an early morning walk among the autumn trees, pedestrian bridges, and high-rises around Songdo.
Songdo Central Park
A beautifully landscaped green space with a waterway cutting right through the towering modern skyscrapers.
Tri-bowl
Take a walk around this striking, sweeping architectural landmark located right beside the park.
G-Tower Observation Deck
Head up for an elevated, indoor view looking out over Songdo and the surrounding water.
National Museum of World Writing Systems
Explore the pale curves of this modern museum dedicated to the history of global scripts.
Historic Districts
Visit the Open Port and Chinatown to see Incheon's older maritime history if you have more than one night.

Book Journeys
Incheon worked well for my overnight stop between Osaka and San Francisco, with time to explore and enough time set aside for airport transfers.
Seoul
Give the capital its own separate, dedicated stay when you have more time rather than rushing a day trip.
Osaka
A natural connection point across East Asia, and the exact city I flew in from before my layover here.
San Francisco
My own onward destination, making Incheon an ideal overnight stop to break up a long transpacific journey.
